According to Robin, when I get an update during our nightly phone calls, Bobby is the one who has taken a hold on the list of chores I had given each of the older three kids. Emma and Nephi... not so much. I have given them a cash incentive for chores done to help keep our home somewhat orderly. But it looks like they would rather have the dolls, Legos, Transformers, etc. without the labor. They will be sad to learn that that is NOT how it works.
I have been busy working, of course, thus my lack of attention to this blog and other places on the net I used to hang out. My past few nights, actually 3 in a row I've had to drive during the midnight to 6am hours. This morning I did not HAVE to get up early so I didn't set my alarm clock and woke up naturally. 12 and 1/2 hrs is what it appeared that my body needed.
Tonight and all day tomorrow I'm camped out at the Flying J near Indianapolis, IN. I've been thinking and writing ideas down for a fiction novel. And the last time I was in Salt Lake I talked with the CEO of my trucking company, Central Refrigerated, about the idea I had of applying informational Autism Awareness stickers (10 or so inches across) on the company's trailers. I'm hoping that the idea will catch on and that other companies and possibly independent owners will do the same. I hope to find someone (Autism Speaks, hmmm...) that will pay to have them produced. An idea I had anyway, we'll see where it goes.

I like your ideas about the stickers on long haul trucks, that should really help spread the word.
Great picture of Bobby!
I just wanted to say Hi and tell you how inspiring you, your wife and your children are to me. I am a mom of 3 kids, my 17 yr old son has Asperger's boarding on HFA (he's in the 98th percentile of Asperger's), but the kicker is that he was misdiagnosed for years until he was 14 and he has a long way to go yet. My 2 younger kids, a 12 yr old girl and 10 yrs old boy, are NT.
I just saw your story tonight on Discovery Health and my daughter was watching with me. The most incredible thing for me was when she was watching a segment on Bobby and it finally 'clicked' in her head about her own brother and the syndrome because of the similarities she saw between Bobby and her brother, we even saw some similarities seen between Emma, Nephi and her brother too. I think seeing your children taught her more understanding than what I've been able to teach to her on my own.
Anyway, I'm sorry for rambling on so, but thank you so so much for sharing your family with us.
I just caught your story on Discovery Health and am fascinated by the idea of autism having a genetic link. What is equally, if not more, astounding is your strength and love of your children. I applaud you for staying strong, getting out the word about autism awareness, and for doing the best for your kids!
We own a transport company in Canada and are working with the Children's Wish Foundation to advertise them on the back of our trailers. It's a great medium to get the word out on worthy causes. Good luck!
