Hi, I checked out your blog after reading about your family in People this week. You are both hilarious writers! I am a special education teacher for a virtual academy and I provide consultation support to many families home schooling children with autism. I think that this video fund raiser is fantastic! I have shared the post and link with my coworkers and families.
I love the website! I will definitely be buying some t-shirts! This video was fantastic and made me cry...there is always hope :-)
You seriously want people to support an organization that states clearly in their "Official" music video that they "want a world where the word autism is only found in history books?"
This is the same mentality that was part of Nazi Germany as they approached the years identified as WWII.
Autism has been proven repeatedly to be genetic by a number of reputable researchers so the only way to make autism a word only found in history books is through genocide, murder and abortion.
That's not the world I want my autistic family members and friends to endure. I want my autistic family members and friends to live in a world that welcomes them and embraces them for who they are!
Autism Speaks may speak for you, John and Robin, but they do not speak for the majority of autistics in the U.S., the U.K., or Canada.
The "Leave us Alone" adults with autism, notwithstanding, there are thousands of parents who realize the child who needs an outfit he can't remove to prevent smearing feces is not the best possible outcome for an adult.
Some of us realize a sensitivity to the ubiquitous corn products brings on that behavior, that dark circles under the eyes, frowns, grimaces and self-abuse are hallmarks of badly damaged guts and severe food allergies.
On April 17th, all around the country, in small venues and large, a documentary will be shown giving a new face to autism.
This is why parents are having their children's health examined (instead of their heads). This is why parents are choosing to deny their children sodas and bread and ice cream. This is how we are making Autism Yesterday:
